As conflict in the Middle East pushes up oil and gas prices, major oil companies are cashing in while household bills soar.
This briefing exposes the scale of excess profits being made by fossil fuel giants as the cost-of-living crisis deepens. It makes clear: we will not achieve real energy security while we remain dependent on volatile fossil fuels.
We are calling on the government to resist oil and gas industry lobbying — maintain and strengthen the windfall tax, close loopholes, and make polluters pay. These revenues must be used to support households, invest in clean energy, and fund the response to climate damage in the UK and around the world.
