No matter how hard we try to adapt to the climate crisis - some consequences are too great to avoid.
In just 50 years, the ever-rising tide of climate-induced disasters has increased by FIVE TIMES, leaving a path of devastating loss and damage around the world…
Communities who did nothing to contribute to the climate crisis are currently paying the price. They don't burn fossil fuels, wealthy nations and fossil fuel corporations do.
It's high time they picked up the bill.
U.K government must call for an International Climate Damages Fund to compensate communities hit by climate-induced loss and damage.
With the U.K government hosting the world's most important climate summit this November, the Quakers and Robin Hood Tax have joined up with a coalition of campaigners and charities to ensure paying for Loss and Damage is top of the agenda.
Wealthy countries are failing communities on the frontline of the climate emergency. Despite their promises to fund loss and damage at the the Paris Agreement - the landmark conference for climate change - we have witnessed nothing but years of inaction.
Imagine your house disappearing underwater due to rising sea levels ; or being forced to flee your home due to an extended drought. You have no money to repair your home - no means to support your family - what do you do? Loss and damage refers to the negative impacts of climate change such as these, that go beyond our ability to mitigate or adapt.
Fossil fuel corporations knew the harm their product was causing, funded disinformation, covered up the science and spread doubt, architecting a deadly delay in action. Communities on the frontline of environmental breakdown must be compensated for the damage fossil fuel polluters have caused.
The Robin Hood Tax on Polluters would tax every unit of fossil fuel extracted to fund communities hit by climate disaster. Wealthy governments need to find a solution to the loss and damage finance stalemate and this is it!
We're saying no more delay, and no more inaction. The U.K government needs to step up to the table, and to call for an International Climate Damages fund, paid for by a Robin Hood Tax.
It's time those who caused the crisis paid for it too.
Fossil fuel companies' dirty business model of profit at any cost is pushing millions of people into desperation
With attention-grabbing videos, media, and articles help us fight against the spin of fossil fuel companies.
Let's ramp up the pressure.
It's time for them to stop hoarding profit, and start getting Robin Hood Taxed!
