The UK Government has already shown it can act by closing a major North Sea tax loophole. Now it must go further.
Oil and gas giants should not be allowed to cash in on global conflict while everyone else pays the price.

After sustained public pressure, the UK Government closed a major tax loophole that had allowed North Sea oil and gas companies to avoid paying millions in tax every year. That's money that can now help support public services and climate action.
Cross-party support has been built in Parliament, with over 80 MPs backing proposals to make polluters pay. More organisations are joining the campaign. Around the world, governments, courts and campaigners are making polluters pay.
Momentum is building.

But as BP, Shell and other oil and gas giants continue making billions from conflict and high energy prices, our work isn't finished.

Nurses are caring for patients in overheating hospitals. Schools are closing during extreme heat. Firefighters are being asked to do more with fewer resources.
Families are rebuilding after floods while food, energy and insurance bills continue to rise for everyone.
Around the world, communities that did least to cause the climate crisis are paying the highest price - from devastating floods in Nepal to prolonged droughts across Africa and rising seas threatening island nations.
The fossil fuel industry drove this crisis. It shouldn't keep making billions while everyone else picks up the bill.
