We need a fair way to pay for the climate crisis—and that means making the biggest polluters pay. A new bill in Parliament would do just that.
The Climate Finance Fund Bill, tabled by MP Richard Burgon, would require the government to draw up plans for a fund—paid for by a levy on fossil fuel companies and other major polluters—to help communities at home and abroad deal with the impacts of climate change.
If you agree that those who caused the crisis should help pay for the solutions, ask your MP to support the bill today.
Richard Burgon MP
Tabled in the 2024-25 session.

"I pledge to call for the biggest polluters to pay their fair share towards the costs of climate damage - costs that my constituents, and frontline communities across the globe, are already paying"
Organise or participate in a parliamentary debate on making polluters pay
MPP as a coalition supports the aims of this bill of making polluters pay for climate finance. The details of this bill reflect a broad range of priorities and solutions put forward by different member organisations. Together, the bill serves the need for parliament to urgently consider how to mobilise climate finance and hold big polluters accountable for the damage they cause.
