A bill has been tabled in Parliament setting out how the Government could raise money from the biggest polluters, for the climate action we need.
The Climate Finance Fund Bill, tabled by MP Richard Burgon, would require the government to draw up plans for a fund - paid for by a levy on fossil fuel companies and other major polluters - to help communities at home and abroad deal with the impacts of climate change.
This is a back bench bill, and although it stands little chance of being adopted by the Government in it's entirity, it is a key tool to raise the ideas in Parliament. Already, the Government has read the Bill and is in discussion with the Coalition.
Please ask your MP to join the many MPs supporting the ideas behind the bill by signing Early Day Motion (Parliamentary petition) 1386: Climate Finance Fund (Fossil Fuels and Pollution) Bill
