Activists from across the country joined an array of actions from the 25th October - 1st November and made sure the UK government heard us loud and clear: the time for polluters to pay is NOW.
We demanded that UK government MUST announce a substantial contribution of new and additional revenue for the Loss and Damage fund at COP29 by taxing polluters.
Actions that took place:
25th October - 27th October
Ahead of COP29, people of faith across the UK gathered to mark the loss and destruction caused by climate breakdown. .
28th October
On Monday 28th October Oxfam launched their “Carbon Inequality Kills” Report which revealed that Billionaires emit more carbon pollution in under three hours than the average Brit does in a lifetime (and much more!)
29th October
In London on the morning of the 29th on Tuesday 29th October faith leaders hosted a vigil and letter hand in which urged Foreign Secretary David Lammy to show leadership on the climate.

30th October
On Wednesday 30th October Ellie Chowns led a Westminster Hall Debate on COP29 and climate finance. Ellie raised points around trillions not billions for loss and damage, how this funding should be provided through grants not loans, should be additional to aid and should be funded by the polluter pays principle.
31st October
On Thursday 31st October, Halloween and the day of Shell's Q3 profits, Fossil Free London and friends protested outside Shell HQ. They demanded that the Fossil Fuel Industry pay up for the damages they're causing to people and planet.
31st October
In the afternoon of the 31st October activists took to Twitter / X to highlight the insane amount of profits fossil fuel companies made this quarter. They demanded that the UK government fights this climate injustice and Make Polluters Pay for Loss and Damage.
